Sam Straatmann, representing the Franklin County Area United Way and Linda Downey of Lutheran Family and Children Services spoke with Washington Rotarians on September 17, 2020. Mr. Straatmann began by quoting “We are not in the same boat, but we are in the same storm.” Now more than ever the United Way needs community support. Donations to the United Way help strengthen families, nurture children, assist the elderly and disabled, and provide emergency services in the Franklin County Area.

Ms. Downey discussed how the Lutheran Family and Children Services, one of the recipients of United Way funds, works in our community. This organization is a pregnancy counseling and parent educator program. It also works to reduce abuse and neglect in the home. Being a licensed adoption agency, they also recruit foster parents in Franklin County. Mental Health Counseling is available as well. This is only one of many organizations that thrive because of your support to the United Way. Help to improve area lives and build a prosperous community, give generously.
